Today

September 20, 2013 by Matt Leave a Comment

The following is a meditation in prose based on the idea of Today: Pining for Tomorrow.

a shortcut between today and hope
rings imagination’s catchy song
to wake up another day to new things
supplying fulfilled aspirations with ease

the abyss between here and there
toils my mind with enough despair
to plea in prayer for arrival there

the mirage tickles
the temporal pleasures
to leap over the struggle
fused between today and hope

the artist creates and forms
each and every day to mold
in me the one who is matured
and yet my soul pines away
as the artist portrays the beauty
of his great work in me today

the beauty of today alludes a mind
that only pines for where hope resides
we then confine the artist
to dismiss himself
from the craft which creates
the joys of hope fulfilled
amidst the beautiful abyss
between today and hope.

a shortcut between today and hope
squelches the grandeur
of joy desired for those like
myself who seek the artist’s design
of glory that is divine to see
Today.
